About
Austin Fried Chicken is website devoted to finding all of the good fried chicken in the Texas capitol. If you’ve had the same experience we’ve had, it’s hard to find real fried chicken here—and I’m not talking that boneless, skinless “chicken fried chicken” deal they serve at every Chili’s. We want to find southern fried chicken—the skin, the grease, the bones… And we’re gonna share those findings with the public.
Started by Tyler Metzger and Anna Bleker in 2009, the site includes comprehensive reviews, information and maps of legit fried chicken restaurants in Austin. Search around to find the right fried chicken for you.
About the bloggers:
Tyler Metzger is a 24-year-old Missouri boy. He moved to Austin in the summer of 2008. Before that he majored in journalism at the University of Missouri, known as Mizzou. He likes biking, making hip hop beats, fatty drumsticks and really salty bacon. He lives in Hyde Park.
He had the idea to start the Web site when after weeks of driving around, he and Anna could not find a real fried chicken restaurant in Austin. A Google search indicated that other Austinites had the same issue.
Anna Bleker is a 21-year-old senior at UT Austin. She loves art and design. She’s a painter: www.annableker.com. She also loves to jam out on the keyboard like she’s 6. She also loves mashed potatoes, gravy, photography and ranch dressing.
After eating a wet-batter-fried chicken breast at Willie Mae’s in New Orleans on Mardi Gras, she decided that she should really be more obsessed with fried chicken, so when Tyler gave the idea to buy the domain austinfriedchicken.com, she exploded with fervor.
